APC sets sights on reclaiming Osun State after Adeleke joins Accord Party

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on its stakeholders in Osun State to unite ahead of the 2026 governorship election, following the defection of Governor Ademola Adeleke from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party.
Senator Monday Okpebholo, Edo State Governor and chairman of the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee, delivered the message at an APC Osun State stakeholders’ meeting in Osogbo.
He urged party members to work together to “take back what belongs to us,” stressing that reclaiming the state requires unity, commitment, and loyalty to the party.
Okpebholo emphasised that the upcoming primary election would be conducted transparently, using an affirmation and consensus model.
All 166 accredited delegates would undergo thorough screening to ensure fairness and accountability.
Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, deputy chairman of the election committee, reinforced the need for party supremacy to guide all actions.
Stakeholders at the meeting echoed the call for unity, with the collective goal of restoring progressive governance in Osun State in 2026.
The APC’s renewed push highlights the party’s determination to regain control of a key state after Adeleke’s defection, marking a pivotal moment in the run-up to the next governorship election.
