Wike affirms unwavering support for President Tinubu Since 2022

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has reiterated that he has no regrets for openly supporting President Bola Tinubu since 2022.

Speaking at a special event marking his 58th birthday, Wike emphasized that his political decisions are guided by character, integrity, and transparency.

A statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, noted that Wike was the only prominent figure from the main opposition party to publicly declare support for Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election.

He said this decision was driven by fairness, justice, and the belief that political power should shift to the South.

Highlighting his leadership credentials, Wike pointed to his tenure in Rivers State, where the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the presidential vote while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) maintained control over state-level positions, including governorship and assembly seats.

The birthday event saw leaders from across political divides in attendance, including National Assembly lawmakers, Rivers State House of Assembly members, local government chairmen, and close political associates.

Many speakers praised Wike as an astute politician whose influence and achievements extend nationwide.

Among those who spoke, Ambassador Desmond Akawor described Wike as the “naked wire” of Rivers politics, affirming that Tinubu made the right choice in working with him.

Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, pledged continued loyalty, while other political figures, including Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, Chief Dan Orbih, and Senator Magnus Abe, lauded his consistent leadership and impact.

In his response, Wike thanked his political family and supporters, vowing to continue working in the interest of Rivers State and Nigeria, while noting that criticism and opposition only strengthen his resolve.

The event concluded with special prayers for Wike and his family.
