Oborevwori mourns Ewhrudjakpo, sympathises with Bayelsa, Gov. Diri

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa, Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.

He described the loss as painful and devastating to the entire Niger Delta region.

In a condolence message issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Oborevwori, conveyed his sympathies to Bayelsa Governor, Douye Diri, the Ewhrudjakpo family, the Bayelsa Government and the people of the state.

Oborevwori said the demise of Ewhrudjakpo, fondly known for his rich use of proverbs and wise counsel, came as a shock.

He noted that the late deputy governor was a leader of rare intellect, humility and depth of wisdom.

According to him, Ewhrudjakpo distinguished himself as a committed public servant whose contributions to governance and leadership made a remarkable impression not only in Bayelsa State but across the Niger Delta and the country as a whole.

The governor described the late deputy governor as a dependable ally in leadership, a bridge-builder and a man who brought insight and stability to government.

“I join the governor, his family, government and people of Bayelsa, friends and allies in mourning Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.

“He was a team player, a dependable partner in leadership and a fountain of wisdom. His passing is a painful reminder of the fragility of life,” he said.

Oborevwori added that his death served as a sobering reminder of the transient nature of life.

The governor said he stood in solidarity with Diri, Bayelsa government, family, friends, associates and well-wishers as they mourn the loss of a trusted partner and seasoned administrator.

Oborevwori also offered prayers for divine comfort and strength for the bereaved family and the people of Bayelsa State.

He urged them to draw consolation from the enduring legacies of service, dedication and integrity left behind by the late deputy governor.

“On behalf of my family, the people and Government of Delta State, I pray that the Almighty God grants Governor Douye Diri, his family and all who mourn him the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” he added.

He assured the Bayelsa government of the support and sympathy of the government and people of Delta State during this period of grief.

Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo served as deputy governor of Bayelsa under Gov. Douye Diri and was widely regarded as an influential and respected figure in the political and governance landscape of the Niger Delta.
