Unity essential to overcoming challenges in Northern Nigeria – Pastor Enenche

In an appeal to Northern Christians, Pastor Paul Enenche, Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Center, has emphasised that unity is the cornerstone for addressing the region’s persistent challenges.

The call came during the Northern Christians Stakeholders’ Solemn Assembly held on Sunday in Abuja, themed “The Blood of the Martyrs: Seed of the Church.”

The event brought together Christian leaders from across Northern Nigeria to deliberate on existential threats affecting communities, irrespective of faith.

Pastor Enenche, who took his Bible reading from Genesis 11:6, highlighted that division remained one of the greatest tools of destruction.

He urged attendees to embrace four pillars of unity: unity of spirit, unity of speech, unity of action, and unity of prayer.

“Whenever people are divided, they become vulnerable to destruction.

”We must decide, hang together or hang separately. A united spirit makes a people unstoppable and resilient,” Enenche stated.

He added, “I envision a new Northern Nigeria where individuals can move freely, day or night, without fear for their lives.”

In his remarks, former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Jonah Jang, underscored the importance of accountability and raising awareness to ensure that the crimes plaguing Northern communities were neither ignored nor forgotten.

Represented by Senator Simon Mwadkwon, Jang called on the media, human rights organisations, and government bodies to amplify the voices of victims and support those providing refuge, medical care, and basic services.

He stressed the need for strong international advocacy, urging action through institutions such as the United Nations and the International Criminal Court to uphold religious freedom and ensure that displaced communities receive necessary humanitarian assistance.

Echoing similar sentiments, Gyang Buba, Chairman of the Plateau Council of Chiefs and Emirs, called on federal and state governments to prioritise the safe return of displaced persons to their ancestral lands and to rebuild destroyed communities.

He stressed that countering terrorism required global collaboration and affirmed that traditional rulers were ready to cooperate fully with government efforts, transcending religious considerations.

Mark Lipdo, Convener of the assembly and Programme Coordinator at the Stephanos Foundation, expressed gratitude to international partners from the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands who supported the event.

He emphasised that the gathering was non-partisan, non-denominational, and non-ethnic, reflecting a collective commitment to the body of Christ.

The assembly called on Northern Christians to stand united in faith and action, highlighting that solidarity remains the most powerful tool against adversity in the region.
