President Bola Tinubu has paid glowing tribute to former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a leader whose public life was defined by discipline, integrity and quiet strength.
The President spoke on Monday in Abuja at the public presentation of a new biography titled From Soldier to Statesman: The Legacy of Muhammadu Buhari, held at the State House Conference Centre.
The event attracted political leaders, public office holders and admirers of the former president, who served Nigeria both as a military head of state and as a democratically elected leader.
In his remarks, Tinubu said Buhari’s impact on national life went beyond the offices he occupied, stressing that true leadership is measured by values that endure long after power has changed hands.
According to him, Buhari would be remembered for his personal modesty, disciplined lifestyle and firm belief that public office should be treated as a responsibility rather than an avenue for personal gain.

He said the alliance of political forces forged in 2014 laid the foundation for a movement that eventually grew into one of the largest political parties on the African continent.
Tinubu also commended the authors of the biography for what he described as a balanced and sincere portrayal of Buhari’s life and career.
He noted that the book did not shy away from examining both achievements and limitations, adding that such honesty makes it a valuable resource for students of leadership and governance rather than a work of political praise.
According to the President, his partnership with Buhari underscored the importance of cooperation across ideological and personal differences in the pursuit of national development.
He urged political actors to embrace healthy competition while remaining committed to responsible governance and measurable outcomes.
