Seplat Energy Plc has announced the appointment of Mr. Saidu Mohammed and Mr. Larry Ettah as Independent Non-Executive Directors, with their tenures set to begin on January 1, 2026.
The appointments come in the wake of the April 2025 resignations of Mr. Bello Rabiu and Mr. Babs Omotowa, who stepped down following their appointments to the Board of NNPC Ltd.
According to a statement from the company, the recruitment process adhered to Seplat’s Board succession plan, ensuring continuity, robust governance, and strategic oversight.
Mr. Saidu Mohammed brings over 37 years of extensive experience in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, particularly in natural gas development and infrastructure.
He previously held the role of Group Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer for Gas and Power at NNPC, where he provided leadership on major gas projects and policy initiatives.
Mohammed’s work has been instrumental in shaping the country’s Gas Masterplan, Gas Network Code, and contributions to the Petroleum Industry Act, all of which have bolstered Nigeria’s gas commercialisation strategy.
Mr. Larry Ettah is a seasoned corporate executive with nearly four decades of experience spanning manufacturing, logistics, food, and consumer sectors.
He spent 30 years at UAC of Nigeria Plc, rising from management trainee to Group Chief Executive Officer, a role he held from 2007 to 2018.
During his tenure, Ettah successfully restructured the company’s portfolio through global partnerships and spearheaded strategic acquisitions, including Livestock Feeds Plc and Portland Paints Plc.
Ettah holds a degree in Industrial Chemistry, an MBA, and has undergone executive education at prestigious institutions such as Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, INSEAD, IMD, and the University of Michigan.
