Fubara claims Rivers has secured 70% support for Tinubu ahead of 2027 elections

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers, has announced that about 70 per cent of support for President Bola Tinubu has already been secured within the state, as part of the build-up to the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during the commissioning of the 9.7-kilometre Ogbakiri Road project on Thursday, the governor expressed confidence in the ability of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to consolidate backing for the President.

Fubara assured the party’s national leadership that his administration’s extensive grassroots networks and dedicated supporters would play a crucial role in delivering the expected mandate for Tinubu.

He attributed his optimism to the warm reception and enthusiasm he observed during project inaugurations across the state.

Highlighting the political responsibilities of his office, Fubara reminded residents of the engagements he had recently held with the APC national leadership, urging local support for the President.

He described these efforts as essential to the party’s long-term strategy ahead of the 2027 polls.

The governor emphasised the significance of the newly commissioned Ogbakiri Road as a flagship infrastructure project of his administration, noting the challenges faced during its execution.

He recalled that initial payments for the road were made at a time when a court order restricted the Federal Government from releasing statutory allocations to Rivers State.

Despite these obstacles, Fubara said, the project was completed on schedule, demonstrating his administration’s commitment to delivering on promises.

Looking ahead, Fubara pledged to examine the feasibility and cost implications of extending internal roads in the area and constructing a bridge to link Ogbakiri to Degema, further enhancing transportation and connectivity in the region.

In recognition of his contributions to community development, local traditional authorities conferred on Governor Fubara the chieftaincy title of Eze Omenh’oma, meaning “Doer of Good,” in appreciation of the road project and other developmental initiatives in the area.

The governor’s remarks underscore his proactive approach to building political capital for the APC while simultaneously advancing infrastructure and local development projects, positioning Rivers State as a critical stronghold for the party in the upcoming electoral cycle.
