Police in Ondo arrest 2, recover vehicle stolen in Delta

The Police Command in Ondo State has arrested two suspects, over alleged connection with a recovered Lexus ES350 earlier reported stolen in Warri, Delta State.
DSP Jimoh Kazeem, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, made this known in a statement on Thursday in Akure, saying ” the arrests followed intelligence-driven operations by operatives of the command.”
He said that the command’s robust inter-agency collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) led to the vehicle’s recovery when it was presented at the National Vehicle Identification Scheme (NVIS) Office in Akure for document renewal.
According to him, preliminary verification revealed that the vehicle’s registration number had not been captured on the NVIS portal, prompting a discreet and thorough investigation.
“Subsequent inquiries confirmed that the Lexus ES350 was forcefully stolen at gunpoint in Warri, Delta State, in February 2022.
“Acting on this development, operatives of the Tactical Intelligence Response Squad arrested two men in their 30s in connection with the crime and successfully recovered the vehicle,” he said.
Kazeem said that the suspects had made useful statements aiding efforts to apprehend other members of the gang.
The command’s spokesman said that when ongoing investigation was concluded, the case would be transferred to the Delta State Police Command for prosecution.
He reiterated the command’s unwavering determination to ensure that criminal elements are tracked and brought to justice, regardless of where the offences were committed.
Kazeem quoted the Commissioner of Police (CP), Adebowale Lawal, as commending officers who arrested the suspects for their professionalism and diligence.
He described their actions as a reflection of the command’s renewed commitment to quality policing.
The CP reaffirmed the command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Ondo State.
He urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information that would assist the police in sustaining effective crime prevention efforts.
