Lagos public servants to receive 100% end-of-year bonus, others

The Lagos State Joint Public Service Negotiating Council (JNC) has praised Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for approving a full 100 percent end-of-year bonus for public servants, alongside presenting car gifts to high-performing officers.

This is contained in a statement signed by Comrade Biodun Bakare, Secretary of the Lagos State JNC.

The council described the gestures as a clear demonstration of the governor’s commitment to staff welfare and motivation across the state’s public service.

In a press statement issued on 19 December 2025, the trade union arm of the council, led by Chairman Comrade Domingo Michael Adeleke and Secretary Comrade Biodun Bakare, referred to the bonus and car gifts as “landmark milestones” that underscore the government’s dedication to enhancing productivity, innovation, and accountability among public servants.

The bonus, the statement noted, would be disbursed in two phases: 50 per cent with the December 2025 salary and the remaining 50 per cent with the January 2026 salary.

This phased approach was designed to reflect sensitivity to current economic conditions while easing financial pressures on workers during the festive period and the start of the new year.

The council also applauded the decision to award cars to exemplary officers, highlighting it as a strategic incentive aimed at recognising merit, fostering innovation, and reinforcing a culture of excellence and service delivery across ministries, departments, and agencies.

“These interventions go beyond routine administrative decisions. They represent morale-boosting measures capable of strengthening industrial harmony, loyalty, and performance,” the statement read.

The JNC further emphasised that the development highlights the value of constructive engagement and ongoing dialogue between the Lagos State Government and organised labour.

The council pledged continued partnership with the Sanwo-Olu administration to support policies that improve public servants’ welfare and enhance service delivery.

The council urged workers to respond with “renewed professionalism, commitment, and dedication in service to the people of Lagos State.”
