President Tinubu arrives Lagos for yuletide break

President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Lagos to mark the end-of-year festivities, bringing his official activities for the year closer to home in Nigeria’s commercial capital.

The President touched down at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Saturday evening, following official visits to Bauchi and Borno states.

Tinubu was received by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, alongside other senior government officials who were present to welcome him to the state.

Adding colour to the arrival, a cultural dance troupe performed at the airport, ushering the President into the city where he is expected to spend the Yuletide season.

Lagos, Tinubu’s long-time political base and former place of service as governor, traditionally hosts him during major festive periods.

According to the President’s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s stay in Lagos will include participation in several social and cultural activities.

Among these is the popular Eyo Festival, a significant cultural event that draws large crowds and dignitaries from across the country and beyond.

In addition to attending public festivities, the President is expected to receive visits from political leaders, traditional rulers, and other prominent Nigerians who will pay him homage during the holiday season.

Tinubu’s arrival in Lagos comes amid ongoing national discussions around governance, economic reforms, and fiscal policies, but officials said the visit is primarily for rest, reflection, and cultural engagements associated with the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The President is expected to remain in Lagos through the Yuletide period before resuming full official duties in the new year.
