Delta commissioner donates N2.5m to APC Christmas food drive

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta on Tuesday, received a major boost ahead of the Christmas celebrations.
The encouragement came as the Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Mr Reuben Izeze, donated N2.5 million to support the party’s annual Christmas food basket programme.
The financial support, announced and presented in the build-up to the festive season, is aimed at easing the hardship faced by party members and vulnerable families in the area.
The donation formed part of efforts to ensure that APC members and residents could enjoy the Christmas season without undue strain.
Presenting the funds to party leaders in Ughelli South Izeze described Christmas as a season that represents love, compassion and collective happiness.
He stressed that beyond celebrations, the period calls for meaningful acts of kindness, especially at the grassroots level where many families struggle to meet basic needs.
According to him, the donation is designed to help families celebrate the season with dignity and to strengthen the sense of unity and inclusion within the party.
He noted that supporting people at such times goes a long way in reinforcing hope and solidarity among members.
The commissioner also expressed appreciation to the State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, for the opportunity to serve in government.
He stated that the position has given him a platform not only to contribute to infrastructural development but also to touch lives through humanitarian gestures.
Izeze also praised the leadership of the APC in Ughelli South for its consistent commitment to the welfare of party members
He noted that initiatives such as the Christmas food basket programme would help to promote unity, loyalty and cooperation within the party.
Responding on behalf of the party, the Chairman of APC in Ughelli South, Sir Isaiah Kekeje, expressed deep gratitude to the commissioner for the timely and generous intervention.
He said the donation would go a long way in reducing the financial pressure on members and their families during the festive period.
Kekeje assured the commissioner that the items purchased with the funds, particularly bags of rice, would be distributed transparently and equitably to ensure that those most in need in the area benefit from the gesture.
The APC Ughelli South Christmas food basket initiative is a yearly programme aimed at sharing goodwill, strengthening community ties among others in the area.
