First Lady calls for peaceful coexistence, commends Kaduna governor’s efforts

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged Nigerians to embrace peaceful coexistence, emphasising that harmony among citizens is essential for national prosperity.
Speaking on Tuesday during the Annual Distribution of Food Items to the Christian Northern Nigeria Political Forum (CNNPF) as part of Christmas and New Year celebrations, Mrs. Tinubu highlighted the importance of unity in the face of current global and domestic challenges.
Addressing the gathering, the First Lady said: “let us all stay and make Nigeria great again.
”Good things are already happening in this country.” She encouraged Nigerians to emulate the path of peace, noting that true nation-building can only thrive in an environment free from conflict and division.
Mrs. Tinubu also praised the efforts of Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, in fostering religious harmony within the state, suggesting that other regions could learn from Kaduna’s example.
She said, “I want to use this opportunity to call on all Nigerians to live in peace with one another and to be our brothers’ keepers.
”God, in His wisdom, placed us together for a purpose, and certainly not for conflict or division.”
She expressed gratitude to the Kaduna State government and its people for their warm reception, commending them for demonstrating how citizens of different religious and ethnic backgrounds can coexist peacefully.
The First Lady also lauded Nigeria’s creative industry, noting that local talents have made the country proud on the international stage. She invited members of the sector to collaborate with the government in national development, saying, “Our stars should please come and join us in building this nation.
”I am available, if they want me to partner with them.”
Governor Sani, in his remarks, described President Bola Tinubu and Senator Oluremi Tinubu as “true lovers of Nigeria,” highlighting their shared commitment to service, compassion, and national unity.
He said the First Lady’s philanthropy stands out for its inclusiveness, benefiting both Muslims and Christians and demonstrating that humanitarian service transcends religious, ethnic, or regional divides.
“The strength of a nation is not only measured by policies and institutions but also by the kindness, empathy, and moral courage of those entrusted with leadership,” Governor Sani noted.
“Through her consistent support for the vulnerable and voiceless, the First Lady has earned the admiration and gratitude of countless Nigerians.”
Benue State Governor, Father Hyacinth Alia, also praised the leadership in Kaduna, attributing the state’s increased peace and stability to the diligence and conscientiousness of its Governor, who follows the example set by the President.
Meanwhile, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, assured that ongoing initiatives under the APC-led federal government and its state counterparts would improve Nigerians’ lives in 2026.
Similarly, Ibrahim Itodo, National Coordinator of CNNPF, commended President Tinubu for promoting national unity and prayed for his successful re-election in 2027.
He encouraged northern governors to replicate Kaduna’s approach to fostering peace and cohesion.
This year’s annual food distribution event, organised jointly by the Office of the First Lady and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari, benefited over 48,000 individuals across 19 northern states.
