Asake sets Lagos ablaze with electrifying flytime fest 2025 headline performance

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Asake delivered a night to remember on Wednesday as he took centre stage at Flytime Fest 2025, captivating a massive audience at the Eko Convention Centre, Lagos, on Christmas Eve.

The concert, which was completely sold out, marked the singer’s return to a major Lagos stage after a two-year absence.

Organisers estimated that about 20,000 fans packed the venue, eager to witness the chart-topping artiste’s highly anticipated homecoming performance.

Asake did not disappoint, treating the crowd to an energetic set that spanned his catalogue of hit records.

Fan favourites such as Joha, Dupe, Nzaza, and Remember sparked sing-alongs across the arena, while unreleased songs from his forthcoming album, M$NEY, were met with roaring approval, signalling strong anticipation for the project.

The night reached its peak when Asake invited a string of surprise guests to join him on stage. His mentor and YBNL boss, Olamide, drew thunderous cheers as he appeared for a powerful joint performance that showcased the duo’s long-standing musical bond.

Street-pop star Zlatan Ibile further ignited the atmosphere with an energetic delivery of Bust Down, while Fuji music icon King Saheed Osupa brought a touch of tradition, fusing indigenous sounds with contemporary beats to the delight of the audience.

Adding to the spectacle were striking pyrotechnic displays and the inclusion of a live orchestra, elements that elevated the performance into a full-scale production and kept concertgoers on their feet throughout the night.

Fresh from a successful international tour, Asake’s commanding stage presence and seamless delivery reinforced his reputation as one of Afrobeats’ most compelling live performers.

His Flytime Fest appearance has since been widely regarded as one of the standout moments of the festival.

The performance also set the tone for the closing phase of Flytime Fest 2025, which is scheduled to culminate in a grand finale headlined by Davido.

As Lagos continued its vibrant “Detty December” celebrations, Asake’s headline show stood out as a defining highlight of the festive season.
