Fubara urges calm, faith during Armed Forces service

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers, has called on residents to remain calm and place their trust in God, assuring that his administration remains committed to sustaining peace and development across the state.
The governor made the appeal during an inter-denominational church service held at St. Cyprian’s Anglican Church, Port Harcourt, to mark the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day.
Speaking to the congregation, Fubara said his composure was rooted in faith, emphasising that panic and agitation are unnecessary when leadership is guided by divine authority.
“I know what I have. I know that I have what is supreme and that is God. So I want everyone to be relaxed. What is important is peace for this dear state, and we will get it by the special name of God,” he said.
Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu echoed the governor’s sentiments, urging citizens to remember that individuals are ultimately judged by the impact they make in life.
She paid tribute to fallen heroes and heroines, as well as veterans present at the service, praising their sacrifices to the nation.
“Please continue to uphold the government of Sir Siminalayi Fubara and my humble self in prayers.
”Prayers have sustained us so far and we believe they will continue to sustain us,” she added.
Delivering the sermon, the Archbishop of the Niger Delta Province and Bishop of the Ikwerre Diocese, Blessing Enyindah, encouraged leaders and citizens to live justly, help others, and build legacies of peace and service.
Preaching on the theme, “Only Remembered by What We Have Done” from Judges 5:1–10, he commended Fubara for his support of the Armed Forces and urged all leaders to live lives worthy of positive remembrance.
The service featured intercessory prayers for the Armed Forces of Nigeria, veterans, and families of fallen heroes, as well as petitions for divine wisdom and guidance for President Bola Tinubu, the Rivers State Executive Council, and the nation.
The event highlighted the state leadership’s commitment to peace, responsible governance, and appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s military personnel.
