Former LP chairmanship candidate Ojogbo joins ADC in Delta

In a notable shift in Delta State’s political landscape, Dr. Augustine Ojogbo, former Labour Party chairmanship candidate in Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state, has formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
His defection followed a weekend gathering of the Delta State Obidients movement in Warri, where members were encouraged to register with the ADC, which was described as a credible and progressive platform capable of transforming Nigeria’s leadership by 2027.
Ojogbo, a key figure in the Obidients movement, completed his registration at Ward 8, Aniocha North, where he was presented with his membership card by the local ADC chairman, Mr. Barry Ofili, on Saturday.
The event marked a formal conclusion to Ojogbo’s resignation from the Labour Party in July 2025.
Addressing supporters after the registration, Ojogbo expressed satisfaction with his decision to join the ADC.
He described the party as a “viable, people-centered platform” that aligns with his longstanding commitment to grassroots development and effective governance in his home local government.
“My political journey has always been guided by service, accountability, and compassion. Joining the ADC provides an avenue to continue advocating for meaningful change and a better Nigeria,” he said, urging supporters to continue promoting hope and national renewal.
He reaffirmed his belief in a transformative leadership under Mr. Peter Obi in the 2027 general elections.
On the prospects for his local constituency, Ojogbo highlighted the need for strong and effective representation for Aniocha North in the Delta State House of Assembly.
While he stopped short of declaring a candidacy, he indicated that he is seriously considering contesting for the seat, contingent on circumstances and divine guidance.
The registration ceremony drew political allies, friends, and grassroots supporters, who expressed confidence in Ojogbo’s leadership and commitment to the people of Aniocha North.
Participants described him as a credible mobilizer with a proven vision for community development and pledged their unwavering support for his future political endeavors.
