A violent attack occurred on Saturday at Aqua Triton Company in Ogunmakin, near Ibadan, when armed assailants kidnapped a foreign employee and killed the police officer assigned to protect him.
According to DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the Police Public Relations Officer, the officer was shot while trying to repel the attackers, and some of the assailants were injured in the confrontation.
The victim of the abduction is a Chinese national working at the company.
Following the incident, the state Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, deployed specialised anti-kidnapping and tactical units to the scene.
Security forces are conducting extensive search operations in surrounding areas, while investigations continue to locate the abducted expatriate and apprehend those responsible.
