Tinubu condemns Kano family massacre, mourns business leader

President Bola Tinubu has expressed shock and condemnation over the brutal killing of a Kano housewife, Fatima Abubakar, and her six children in Chiranci community, describing the incident as both “barbaric” and “heartbreaking.”

In a statement released on Monday by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President commended the Nigeria Police Force for the swift arrest of the principal suspects linked to the killings.

He further directed a thorough investigation and diligent prosecution of those responsible, emphasizing that justice must be served to deter similar crimes in the future.

“This tragedy, involving the loss of innocent lives, has deeply shaken our nation,” the statement read.

President Tinubu extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and the people of Kano State.

In the same statement, the President also mourned the passing of Alhaji Bature Abdulaziz, a prominent Kano businessman and respected community leader who died last weekend.

Abdulaziz served as the National President of the Harmonised Traders Association of Nigeria and was a well-known figure across several commerce-related unions.

Describing Abdulaziz’s death as a “significant loss” to both the Kano business community and Nigeria at large, Tinubu highlighted the late leader’s influential role in commerce and national development.

He also recalled Abdulaziz’s support during the 2023 presidential campaign and his tireless advocacy for national unity through the Patriotic Elders Network for Peace (PENP), which he founded.

The President offered condolences to Abdulaziz’s family, the Kano business community, and the Kano State Government, praying for comfort and strength for all those affected by the loss.
