65-year-old woman arrested for supplying drugs to Boko Haram in Borno

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a 65-year-old woman, Hauwa Abulazeez, for allegedly supplying drugs to Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State.

The arrest took place on January 23, 2026, in Askira Uba Local Government Area, according to a statement by Lt. Col. Sanni Uba, spokesman for the Joint Task Force.

Hauwa Abulazeez is accused of distributing cannabis sativa to Boko Haram operatives in several communities, including Askira Uba, Rumirgo, Gwahi, Wamdiyo, Uvu, and Gaya.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the drugs were sourced from Sarti Baruwa LGA in Taraba State and transported through established supply routes.

During the operation, troops recovered 14 compressed blocks of cannabis, weighing approximately 30 kilograms, marking a significant blow to terrorist logistics.

Hauwa is currently in custody as authorities continue investigations to dismantle the wider network behind the drug trafficking.

The arrest is part of Operation Desert Sanity V, aimed at disrupting criminal support networks for terrorists in the North-East.
