Gov. Yusuf to rejoin APC on Monday

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano, will formally rejoin the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday, January 26, 2026, after resigning from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) last Friday.
He will also launch the APC e-registration exercise in Kano on the same day.
A statement by his spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, described APC as a familiar political home for Yusuf, noting that he first joined the party in 2014 when he won the APC primary for Kano Central Senatorial seat, which he later ceded to Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Governor Yusuf said his return to APC aims to strengthen ties with the Federal Government, boost infrastructural development, enhance security, and improve service delivery in Kano State.
He also highlighted the move’s role in consolidating political stability and unity in the state.
On Monday, he is expected to register alongside 22 Kano State House of Assembly members, eight House of Representatives members, and 44 local government chairmen.
