Atiku’s Son, Abba Abubakar, joins APC in Adamawa

Abba Atiku Abubakar, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has officially registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State.

He completed his registration on Monday, January 26, 2026, at Gwadabawa Ward in Yola North Local Government Area.

After receiving his APC membership card, Abubakar expressed gratitude to party leaders and supporters who welcomed him, stating he was optimistic about his political journey within the party.

He thanked APC members at all levels, including state executives, women and youth leaders, and the people of Adamawa for their support, describing himself as “a son to you.”

The move comes months after his father, Atiku Abubakar, formally left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where he is working with an ADC-led coalition ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Atiku described his son’s decision as a personal choice, emphasising that political differences within families are a normal aspect of democratic pluralism.

Abba’s temporary APC membership slip listed his registration details in Adamawa State, Yola North Local Government Area, Gwadabawa Ward.

This development reflects the fluidity of political alignments in Nigeria, with family members sometimes pursuing different paths even as prominent political figures like Atiku chart their own course.
