PSC extends police constable recruitment deadline to Feb. 8

The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has announced a two-week extension of the ongoing recruitment exercise for 50,000 police constables nationwide.
The new deadline for submission of applications is now February 8, 2026, extending the initial closing date of January 25.
In a statement on Monday, Torty Kalu, Head of Protocol and Public Affairs at the PSC, confirmed that the recruitment portal opened on December 15, 2025 and would remain active for all eligible Nigerians until the revised deadline.
The commission explained that the extension follows the receipt of over 400,000 applications nationwide, coupled with an internal review that revealed significant disparities in participation among states.
While Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna recorded high levels of applications, states such as Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra showed comparatively low numbers.
“The extension is intended to promote equitable representation across all states and ensure that no region is underrepresented in this critical intake of police constables,” the PSC said.
The statement urged eligible Nigerians, particularly those from states with low application rates, to take advantage of the additional time and complete their applications through the official portal.
It also called on state and local governments, socio-cultural organisations, religious bodies, community leaders, and other stakeholders to mobilise qualified youths in their communities to participate in the exercise.
Both the PSC and NPF reaffirmed their commitment to a fair, transparent, and inclusive recruitment process, stressing that the extension is aimed at giving every qualified Nigerian an equal opportunity to serve in the Nigeria Police Force.
