Shettima urges Nigerians to prioritise peace, unity

Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on Nigerians to embrace tolerance and peaceful coexistence, describing unity as the foundation for national development.

His remarks came Wednesday during a courtesy visit to the Gbong Gwom Jos, Jacob Gyang Buba, in Plateau State.

Shettima stressed that Nigeria’s diversity should be a source of strength rather than division.

“We are all connected one way or the other. What binds us together supersedes whatever threatens to separate us.

”There can be no development without peace,” he said.

The vice president commended traditional rulers for their role in maintaining social harmony.

He described them as custodians of culture and peace who continually promote stability within their communities.

Shettima also welcomed growing collaboration between APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda and Plateau Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

Shettima expressed gratitude to Plateau State for the warm reception extended to him and his team.

He said their alignment promises more dividends of democracy for the state and contributes to national stability.

The Gbong Gwom Jos appealed for enhanced security and genuine reconciliation to tackle challenges across Plateau and Nigeria.

He emphasised that religion offers no justification for violence, urging citizens to respect one another.

Governor Mutfwang praised the working relationship between President Bola Tinubu and Shettima, noting that it fosters good governance and positive outcomes for Nigerians.
