First lady urges youths to dream big at OAU Centre

The Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged Nigerian youths to dream boldly and work diligently to transform their aspirations into reality.

She made the call on Thursday at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, during the inauguration of the Oluremi Tinubu Dream Centre, a digital library built in her honour by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, and digitised by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

Describing the centre as a milestone in her commitment to mentoring the next generation, Mrs. Tinubu said it reflects the power of dreams, imagination, and personal growth.

“I have always dreamt of being a teacher and I achieved that dream. But I did not stop there; I kept dreaming, and here I am today,” she said, encouraging students to pursue their goals with determination.

The fully digitised facility includes a library, digital museum, dream room, innovation hub, studio, mentorship room, and tech garden, designed to inspire creativity and serve as a modern mentorship space for young people.

In a demonstration of her support for student welfare, the First Lady fulfilled her 2024 pledge by donating 50 new shuttle buses and 40 tricycles to improve campus transportation, complementing her earlier N1 billion donation to the university for infrastructure and student development.

Earlier, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, said the centre was inspired by Mrs. Tinubu’s enduring legacy of service.

“What was once a pavilion for students has now been upgraded to serve a higher purpose—an innovative space where Nigerian youths can dare to dream,” he said.
