Pregnant woman kidnapped by gunmen in Ondo community

A pregnant woman was abducted by suspected gunmen in Ayede, a neighborhood near Alagbaka GRA Extension in Akure, the capital of Ondo State.
Residents reported that the assailants stormed the area on Tuesday, firing sporadically before forcibly taking the woman away.
The victim, identified as Mary Jesulayomi, was targeted along with other residents. An elderly woman, Madam Ogunleye, was also kidnapped during the attack but was later released unharmed.
Meanwhile, Madam Ogunleye’s husband, approximately 90 years old, sustained injuries while the kidnappers attempted to seize him.
The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the incident. DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the police spokesperson, said that a tactical team has been dispatched to the scene to rescue Jesulayomi and track down the perpetrators.
He assured the public that the police are making all efforts to ensure her safe return.
Police authorities have urged community members to remain vigilant and report any information that could lead to the safe recovery of the abducted woman.
Local residents expressed shock and fear following the incident, highlighting rising concerns over security in the area.
