APC dismisses ADC allegations on e-registration

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected claims by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that civil servants were coerced into participating in its ongoing electronic membership registration exercise.

In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Mr Felix Morka, described the allegations as unfounded and misleading, insisting that the party’s e-registration process was voluntary and transparent.

Morka said the accusation was aimed at discrediting what he described as the party’s innovative effort to modernise and digitise its membership database.

According to him, the APC’s adoption of technology in its registration process represents a significant step forward in strengthening internal party administration.

He accused the ADC of deliberately spreading misinformation, alleging that the opposition party had gone as far as fabricating and circulating a fake APC membership slip purportedly linked to a known terrorist in order to mislead the public.

The APC spokesman stated that participation in the e-registration exercise had been driven by the interest and enthusiasm of Nigerians who, he said, were motivated by the achievements and policies of the Federal Government under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Morka disclosed that the overwhelming response to the registration exercise prompted the party to extend the deadline from January 31 to February 8 to accommodate more prospective members.

He further claimed that the ADC’s allegations were a reaction to what he described as the massive success of the exercise, adding that the party was unsettled by the growing number of Nigerians aligning with the APC.

According to him, while opposition parties continued to engage in what he termed false narratives, the APC remained focused on consolidating its structures and expanding its membership base nationwide.

The APC urged Nigerians to disregard the allegations, assuring that its registration process was credible, inclusive and conducted in line with democratic principles.
