Delta Gov.’s wife urges mothers to intensify prayer, moral leadership

The wife of the Delta Governor, Mrs Tobore Oborevwori, has called on mothers to intensify their commitment to prayer and moral leadership for the sustainability of families.

Oborevwori made the call during the 19th edition of the Mothers Arise Prayers Conference, held on Monday at the Government House Chapel, Asaba.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the annual programme, which brought together women from across the state, was organised by Oborevwori’s foundation, “You Matter Charity”.

The governor’s wife described the conference as a spiritually significant gathering aimed at repositioning mothers as intercessors for their homes, communities and the state.

She explained that the conference, with the theme “Not So,” was inspired by Luke 1:60.

Oborevwori said the conference was designed to challenge mothers to reject compromise and boldly confront spiritual, moral and social challenges.

Drawing lessons from the biblical account of Elizabeth, she said firm and timely intervention was critical to preserving destiny.

Oborevwori noted that mothers must speak and act decisively to secure the future of their children, urging them to deliberately renounce negative influences capable of undermining peace, progress and moral values.

The governor’s wife encouraged mothers to speak positively over their families and the state, noting that words backed by faith have the power to shape outcomes and transform environments.

She assured participants that genuine faith and consistency in prayer would attract divine support.

Oborevwori also acknowledged the contribution of the guest speaker and commended her for strengthening the spiritual resolve of the women.

She called on mothers to continue praying for her husband, the effective delivery of the dividends of democracy, and the maintenance of peace in the state.

Oborevwori also encouraged women to play active roles in governance by registering and obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

In her sermon, Rev. Fanny Ekpekurede charged mothers to rise above spiritual complacency and return to disciplined and purposeful prayer.

Ekpekurede stressed that the strength of families and the stability of society are closely linked to the spiritual dedication of mothers.

She said that consistent prayer is essential in shaping the destinies of children, preserving marriages and safeguarding families from harmful influences.

Ekpekurede warned that neglecting prayer could expose families to unhealthy cycles, while sustained intercession attracts divine guidance and protection.

She further encouraged mothers to take responsibility for the spiritual atmosphere of their homes, noting that opposition and challenges often arise without provocation, making vigilance in prayer necessary.

The programme featured intensive prayer sessions for families, youths, state government leaders and the nation at large.
