The Abia State Police Command has refuted claims that a bomb or explosive device was found at the United Evangelical Church in Ehere/Umuola, Ogbor Hill, Aba.
Maureen Chinaka, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, said a thorough investigation revealed no evidence of any explosive.
The confusion arose during a road reconstruction project when the church, which had encroached on the road corridor, was asked to adjust its structure.
An iron rod from the church’s pillar was removed by the military, leading to false reports of a bomb.
Police reassured residents of ongoing vigilance and confirmed that officers remain strategically deployed across the state to safeguard lives and property.
The scare, which had circulated widely, has now been officially debunked.
