INEC launches 50-day voter registration in Akwa Ibom

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced a 50-day Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) across all 329 wards of Akwa Ibom State.

The exercise, which began on Monday, aims to bring voter registration closer to grassroots communities, officials said.

Bukola Ojeme, INEC Head of Voter Education and Publicity, explained that eligible citizens can register at approved Ward Collation Centres, with two wards in each local government attended daily.

During this period, registration at the 31 local government offices would be suspended, while the state headquarters remains operational.

Ojeme emphasised that the Voter Enrolment Devices (IVEDs) would rotate across wards to ensure full coverage, and warned that only authorised centres will be used.

He urged all eligible residents, particularly those in rural areas, to take advantage of the opportunity to register and have their voices counted in upcoming elections.
