Makinde vows PDP will triumph amid legal challenges

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has expressed unwavering confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will secure justice in court over ongoing legal challenges facing the party nationwide.
Speaking at the commissioning of the newly built PDP Secretariat in Oke-Ado, Makinde described the judiciary as “the last hope of the common man” and stressed that truth would ultimately prevail over falsehood.
“I believe strongly in the judiciary. At the end of the day, justice will be done, and the PDP will get justice,” he said, urging members to remain loyal and resist attempts by “vagabonds” to destabilise the party in Oyo State.
Makinde acknowledged past political alliances with some of the dissenting individuals, but noted that they had been expelled from the party in November 2025.
“I once dined and wined with them. I even puked with them, but I have repented,” he added.
He reaffirmed that the PDP remains the authentic platform for progressive governance in Oyo State and vowed that internal disputes would not derail the party’s mission.
Oyo State PDP Chairman Dayo Ogungbenro called on members to intensify commitment ahead of the 2027 general elections, attributing the party’s expected victory to public support and divine grace.
The newly commissioned Secretariat was named after former state chairman Omokunmi Mustapha, in recognition of his contributions.
Makinde formally handed over the building documents to PDP National Chairman Tanimu Turaki, marking the official takeover of the party house.
The event attracted prominent party leaders, including former Kano State Governor Ibrahim Shekarau and PDP Deputy National Chairman (South) Taofeek Arapaja, alongside other stakeholders.
