Oborevwori clinches double Governor awards

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, has secured two major national honours, emerging Governor of the Year 2025 in separate recognitions by New Telegraph Newspapers and Leadership Newspapers.

Both media organisations cited his administration’s performance-driven governance and people-centred policies as key factors behind the awards.

The newspapers stated that the governor’s deliberate execution of development programmes has brought measurable improvements to infrastructure, social services, and economic opportunities across Delta State.

Leadership Newspapers confirmed that Oborevwori will be decorated at its 18th Leadership Conference and Awards scheduled for February 12, 2026.

The ceremony would take place at the Bola Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.

The annual Leadership event attracts political leaders, senior government officials, captains of industry, and development stakeholders from across Nigeria and beyond.

The organisers said the platform encourages policy dialogue on pressing national and continental issues while celebrating individuals and institutions shaping Nigeria’s progress.

This year’s conference carries the theme, “Political Stability and Sustainable Development in Africa in an Increasingly Unstable Global System: A Roadmap for Nigeria.”

In a separate ceremony, New Telegraph would honour the Delta governor as its overall Governor of the Year 2025.

The award presentation is slated for February 13, 2026, at the Grand Ballroom of the Oriental Hotel in Lagos.

According to the organisers, the choice reflects what they described as inclusive leadership, strategic infrastructure expansion, and policies aimed at raising living standards in the state.
