NNU demands accountability from Ndokwa leaders

The President-General of Ndokwa Neku Union, Chief Amechi Asuguni, has urged political office holders in Ndokwa Nation to remain answerable to the people they serve.

He spoke in Kwale while marking his first anniversary in office, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to transparency, unity and constitutional reform within the Union.

Addressing members of the Ndokwa Media Professionals Forum, Asuguni described the gathering as a deliberate step toward openness and public engagement.

He noted that the anniversary provided an opportunity to inform Ndokwa people about ongoing efforts and to seek sustained community support for developmental goals.

According to him, shortly after inauguration, the Union convened a broad stakeholders’ meeting where a 13-point agenda was adopted as its operational framework.

He explained that the document, initially conceived as a campaign manifesto, evolved into a people-driven blueprint after review, prioritisation and endorsement by community leaders.

Asuguni stressed that once adopted by stakeholders, the agenda became a collective development charter reflecting the aspirations of Ndokwa communities.

He clarified that the Union, as a socio-cultural body, does not maintain a dedicated project fund for direct execution of infrastructure.

Instead, he said, its strategy centres on advocacy, dialogue and collaboration with relevant authorities to address pressing community challenges.

To strengthen participation, the leadership inaugurated 14 committees with clearly defined responsibilities under the Union’s constitution.

The committees, he said, were designed to broaden inclusion, reduce internal dissent and reinforce institutional stability.

Asuguni identified constitutional reform as a major milestone of his first year, describing it as essential to restoring confidence in the Union’s electoral processes.

He stated that new provisions were deliberately introduced to guide future administrations and ensure that all offices remain subject to constitutional control.

Emphasising unity, he declared that the Union does not belong to any political party but exists to promote collective progress.

He urged Ndokwa political office holders to remember that their mandates derive from the people and must be exercised with accountability and integrity.
