Rivers State governor urges full participation in bye-elections

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers, has called on residents of Rivers State to actively participate in the bye-elections scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026, emphasizing the importance of peace and lawfulness during the exercise.

The elections cover the Ahoada East II and Khana II constituencies in Rivers State, alongside other polls in the Federal Capital Territory and Kano State.

Fubara described the election as a “family affair” and encouraged supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to turn out in large numbers to back the party’s candidates.

He stressed that residents should avoid any acts capable of disturbing the peace and uphold the principles of tolerance and mutual respect.

Similarly, Bola Tinubu urged voters, political parties, and security agencies to ensure orderly conduct, refrain from intimidation, and carry out responsibilities professionally to safeguard the integrity of the polls.

Both leaders highlighted that the success of the democratic process depends on calm, responsible participation, and adherence to the Electoral Act 2026.
