First Lady applauds governors’ wives on birth registrations

First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu on Monday in Abuja commended the wives of governors across the country for their role in the 14 million rise in birth registrations recorded in recent years.
During a visit from a UNICEF delegation led by Country Representative Wafaa Elfadil Saeed Abdelatef at the State House, Mrs. Tinubu received an update on the progress made in birth registration across Nigeria.
The report highlighted that sustained efforts by the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) coordinators in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have contributed significantly to safeguarding the identity and rights of Nigerian children.
“The achievements reflect the dedication of our valued partners and all 36 State First Ladies, as well as the FCT Coordinator,” she said.
“Their commitment demonstrates how collaboration and sustained action can protect the welfare of every child.”
Mrs. Tinubu also praised stakeholders for progress in combating public health challenges, including HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, cervical cancer, syphilis, hepatitis B, female genital mutilation, neglected tropical diseases, and other vaccine-preventable illnesses.
Highlighting the importance of continuity in these initiatives, she urged continued efforts to ensure that Nigeria achieves the 2030 global health targets.
“Sustained determination can enable us to eliminate many of these diseases and improve the wellbeing of all Nigerians,” she said.
The First Lady’s commendation underscores the impact of coordinated advocacy, community engagement, and proactive leadership in advancing child welfare and public health across Nigeria.
