Fintiri dumps PDP for APC

Governor Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Fintiri announced his decision in a statewide broadcast on Friday.
He said the move was taken in the interest of Adamawa people and national cohesion.
The governor disclosed that he defected alongside members of his cabinet and political appointees.
He added that all elected local government chairmen in the state joined him in the switch.
Fintiri stressed the need for closer alignment with the Federal Government to accelerate development projects.
According to him, partnership with the centre would enhance infrastructure and economic opportunities.
The defection followed recent political shifts within the Adamawa State House of Assembly.
