Rivers Assembly calls on commissioner-nominees to submit credentials

The Rivers State House of Assembly has formally invited all nominees for positions in the State Executive Council to submit their credentials ahead of the screening and confirmation process.
The directive followed the dissolution of the previous Executive Council by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, signaling a fresh start for the state administration.
In a government announcement issued on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, the Assembly specified that nominees must submit forty copies of their curriculum vitae, photocopies of academic and professional certificates, and proof of tax compliance.
The documents are to be delivered to the Office of the Clerk at the Rivers State House of Assembly Quarters in Port Harcourt.
The Clerk of the House, Emeka Amadi, signed the announcement, emphasising that submission of these documents is a mandatory procedural step for all nominees.
Only after this step can the House commence the screening and eventual confirmation of the proposed commissioners and council members.
The list of nominees released by the Assembly includes:
Professor Datonye Alasia
Mr. Tonye Bellgam
Professor Temple Nwofor
Dr. Peters Nwagor
Mrs. Charity Deemua
Tamuno Williams, Esq.
Mr. Lekue Kenneth
Otonye TKD Amachree, Esq.
Sir Amairigha Edward Hart.
The Assembly has stressed that compliance with the submission requirements is critical for the continuation of the appointment process.
The Assembly noted that failure to submit the required documents might result in exclusion from the screening exercise.
This announcement comes in the wake of Governor Fubara swearing in key aides, including the Secretary to the State Government and Chief of Staff, marking the administration’s efforts to restructure its leadership team.
