Tinubu renews NIPSS DG Omotayo’s term

President Bola Tinubu has approved the renewal of Professor Ayo Omotayo’s appointment as the Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, for a final term of four years.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
Omotayo had initially been appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari in November 2021, with the Senate confirming him in February 2022.
Professor Omotayo, a distinguished scholar in Environmental Sustainability, earned his PhD in Geography from the University of Ibadan between 1980 and 1990.
He began his academic career at Lagos State University in 1985, becoming a Senior Lecturer in 1992 at the age of 30.
He later served as Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences from 2012 to 2017 and directed the Centre for Planning at Lagos State University before taking up the leadership role at NIPSS.
His renewal signals continuity in strategic policy research and training at the institute, which remains a key centre for Nigeria’s policy formulation and governance studies.
