Delta Assembly pays tribute to late Chief Elue

The Delta House of Assembly, led by Speaker Rt. Hon. Dennis Guwor, on Wednesday visited the residence of the late Chief Benjamin Elue on Thursday in Obior, Aniocha North, to condole with the family and honour his legacy of public service.
The delegation, comprising principal officers and members of the Assembly, was warmly received by Lady Esther Elue, the widow of the former Deputy Governor, alongside their children, other relatives, and notable indigenes of Obior, an agrarian community regarded by some as the traditional headquarters of Ezechima Kingdom.
In his remarks, Guwor described Chief Elue as a devoted public servant whose contributions significantly impacted Delta State and Nigeria.
He recalled the former Deputy Governor’s unwavering commitment to the people and his role in fostering peace and unity, noting the exemplary relationship Chief Elue maintained with the state legislature.
“On behalf of the Delta State House of Assembly, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the late former Deputy Governor.
”May his soul rest in peace, and may the Almighty grant the family comfort during this difficult time,” the Speaker said.
Guwor also lauded Chief Elue’s humility and dedication to humanity, emphasising that his legacy would endure for generations.
Hon. Emeka Nwaobi, Member representing Aniocha North and Leader of the House, joined the family in welcoming the Assembly delegation and described the late Deputy Governor as a leader of great repute, whose impact remains indelible even in death.
The condolence visit featured a minute of silence for Chief Elue, prayers, words of solace for the bereaved family, and signing of the condolence register.
The family expressed deep appreciation for the show of solidarity, acknowledging it as a source of comfort and a testament to the high regard in which Chief Elue was held.
Following the condolence visit, Speaker Guwor and the Assembly members also visited Mrs. Josephine Kachikwu, a two-term Chairperson of the Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission, at her residence in nearby Onicha Ugbo, Aniocha North, to felicitate with her on her 77th birthday.
The Speaker praised Mrs. Kachikwu for her dedication to God and service to humanity, offering prayers for continued blessings and fulfillment in her life.
The Assembly collectively wished the septuagenarian a happy birthday and many more years of service.
In response, Mrs. Kachikwu thanked the Speaker and Assembly members for the visit and birthday greetings, expressing her gratitude for the recognition and pledging to continue praying for the Assembly and the state.
