Ndokwa leaders back DESOPADEC, Oborevwori, Tinubu

Key stakeholders in Ndokwa East Local Government Area have unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and President Bola Tinubu.

The endorsement came during a strategic stakeholders’ meeting involving the Executive Committee of HOSTCOM, Presidents General of Ndokwa East clans, Community Development Committee (CDC) chairmen, and other community leaders.

The meeting, convened by Dr. Charles Olisa, who represents the Ndokwa ethnic nationality on the DESOPADEC Governing Board, was held on March 4, 2026, at Las Hogar Hotels and Suites along Ashaka Road.

The gathering attracted prominent community representatives who reviewed development efforts and discussed ongoing projects across Ndokwa communities.

Addressing participants, Dr. Olisa presented a detailed account of the commission’s activities and achievements within Ndokwa East and other areas of the oil-producing region.

He highlighted several infrastructure projects undertaken by DESOPADEC, including the construction and rehabilitation of roads, civic centres, schools, solar-powered street lighting, ultra-modern police stations, and modern market facilities.

According to him, the commission has also intensified efforts to improve human capital development through social empowerment initiatives.

These include the DESOPADEC Skill Academy, educational bursaries for students, and other targeted support programmes designed to uplift youths and vulnerable members of host communities.

Dr. Olisa further noted that environmental sustainability remains a priority for the commission.

He said ongoing interventions such as flood control measures, drainage construction, and desilting projects are aimed at protecting communities from environmental hazards and improving living conditions in oil-producing areas.

Participants at the meeting commended Dr. Olisa for maintaining close contact with grassroots stakeholders and for regularly updating communities about the commission’s activities.

Several speakers described his leadership style as open, accessible, and responsive to the needs of the people.

Following deliberations, the stakeholders collectively expressed satisfaction with the performance of the DESOPADEC Governing Board, led by Chairman Olorogun Barrister John Nani and Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Chief Surveyor Festus Ochonogor.

They also praised Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for what they described as purposeful and visionary leadership in Delta State, particularly in supporting development initiatives within oil-producing communities.

In addition, the gathering commended President Bola Tinubu for policies and programmes they believe are contributing to national development and improved governance.

The motion for the vote of confidence was formally moved by Chief Prince Obi and seconded by Chief Sunday Okiah.

It received further endorsement from Chief Odalonu Otuya and the Chairman of HOSTCOM in Ndokwa East, Pastor Samuel Enebeli.

With unanimous approval from the stakeholders present, the resolution was adopted, reaffirming the support of Ndokwa East community leaders for the leadership of DESOPADEC, the Delta State Government, and the Federal Government.
