IWD: Cleric urges men to uphold faithfulness, build homes on love, wisdom

In a stirring sermon delivered on Sunday to mark International Women’s Day (IWD), Reverend Hezekiah Duro-Aina, Senior Pastor of the Conqueror’s Assembly, warned men against infidelity, urging couples to nurture their homes with wisdom, love, and commitment.

Preaching at the church auditorium in Lagos, Duro-Aina emphasised that family stability is the foundation for personal success and effective ministry.

He cautioned that infidelity often brings emotional trauma and conflict into households, disproportionately affecting women.

“Be transparent, sincere, and honest with your wife. Secrets and hidden affairs erode trust. If you have made mistakes, confess them.

”Your wife may forgive, and this honesty strengthens respect, love, and lifelong commitment,” the cleric advised.

The pastor highlighted that material wealth cannot sustain a marriage.

“Money can attract a woman, but it cannot keep her. True devotion, attention, and affection are what retain a partner.

”Affection through kind words, appreciation, and respect is essential,” he said.

He further urged men to share their phone passwords with their spouses as a gesture of transparency.

Duro-Aina stressed that handling one’s wife with care is not only a moral duty but a way to maximize divine blessings.

“A peaceful home attracts unimaginable favour. How you treat your spouse affects your life in every sphere,” he added.

Titled “Wisdom for Excellent Family Life,” his sermon underscored that wisdom, not wealth or academic credentials, is the principal ingredient in building and sustaining a household.

Quoting biblical teachings, he noted that many life struggles stem from a lack of understanding rather than external forces.

“Wisdom is knowing what to do at the right time and applying it. Age, education, or status does not determine it.

”Both young and old must deliberately pursue wisdom to overcome life’s challenges,” he said.

The cleric also lauded the role of women in families and society, observing that they bring color, beauty, and balance to life.

He encouraged men to actively appreciate their wives, spend quality time with them, and consistently express affection.

Duro-Aina reminded couples that marriage requires devotion, loyalty, and understanding.

Quoting scripture, he emphasised the importance of leaving one’s parents to cleave to a spouse, establishing a strong and harmonious family foundation.

“A harmonious home is built on love, peace, and mutual understanding.

”When couples foster these values, they attract favor and success in every area of life,” the pastor said, urging Christians to make family well-being a priority.
