Sen. Dickson urges Nigerians to join NDC movement

Former Bayelsa State Governor and National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), and Senator representing Bayelsa West, Seriake Dickson, has called on Nigerians across the country to join the emerging political platform.

Senator Dickson described the platform as a democratic movement aimed at strengthening opposition and safeguarding Nigeria’s democracy.

Dickson made the appeal during a brief interview on TVC News on Sunday evening, where he outlined the ideological foundation upon which the newly formed Nigeria Democratic Congress is built.

According to him, the party was established on clear ideological principles designed to promote democratic values, national development, and inclusive governance.

He noted that more opportunities would arise in the coming weeks to fully explain the party’s vision and policy direction to Nigerians.

The senator also expressed appreciation to citizens and political leaders across the country for the growing interest and support the party has received since its unveiling.

“I thank all Nigerians and leaders across the country for their encouragement, support, and willingness to join the NDC and be part of this growing movement to change Nigeria for the better,” Dickson said.

He urged supporters not to be discouraged by what he described as a short and challenging timeline for membership registration.

Dickson emphasised that the law does not stipulate a specific number of registered members that must be reached before the deadline.

He therefore encouraged party supporters to mobilise at the grassroots level by registering in their wards, local government areas, and states through the available online and physical channels.

The NDC leader expressed confidence that the party would meet all the requirements necessary for its participation in future elections before the stipulated deadline.

He also noted that membership registration would continue even as the election period approaches.

Dickson further warned against the dangers of a weak opposition in Nigeria’s political system, stating that the NDC aims to provide a credible democratic alternative.

“I call on all Nigerians to join the NDC and be part of the democratic movement to prevent Nigeria from drifting into a one-party state without opposition,” he said.

He thanked supporters for the confidence placed in the party’s leadership and expressed optimism about the future of the movement.
