Kano Governor removes head of service

Gôvernor Abba Yusuf of Kano, has relieved the state’s Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, of his position with immediate effect as part of ongoing reforms within the state’s civil service.

The decision was disclosed in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Tuesday evening.

According to the statement, the move forms part of the administration’s broader effort to reposition the civil service and improve efficiency, discipline, and overall service delivery across government institutions in Kano State.

While announcing the decision, Governor Yusuf commended the outgoing Head of Service for his dedication and contributions to the development of the state during his tenure.

“We appreciate his service to the state and wish him success in his future endeavours,” the governor said in the statement.

Following the development, the government has appointed Bilkisu Shehu Maimota as Acting Head of Service pending the appointment of a substantive replacement.

Before the appointment, Maimota served as the Permanent Secretary in charge of Administration and General Services at the Cabinet Office.

The government further directed the outgoing Head of Service to immediately hand over the responsibilities of the office to the acting official.

The statement said the transition is expected to be completed without delay as part of the state government’s plan to strengthen institutional efficiency within the civil service.
