TETFund pledges fresh support to NAF schools

Nigerian Air Force (NAF) educational institutions are set to benefit from renewed backing by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), the organisation’s Executive Secretary, Sonny Echono, announced Tuesday.
The pledge followed a visit by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, to TETFund headquarters aimed at strengthening tertiary education in NAF institutions.
Echono described TETFund as more than a federal agency, calling it a strategic partner in national development. “Where TETFund’s logo appears, quality education follows,” he said.
Air Marshal Aneke lauded the fund’s role in enhancing the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT). Over 48 years, AFIT has evolved into a multidisciplinary centre producing highly skilled personnel for aviation, aerospace, and defence sectors.
“TETFund interventions have provided fully equipped labs, modern hostels, and stable academic environments free from strikes,” Aneke noted.
He also highlighted the Nigerian Air Force College of Nursing, which provides specialised training regulated by national health and technical education boards.
He stressed that TETFund support strengthens not just NAF institutions but the broader healthcare system.
Looking ahead, Aneke requested further assistance, including an artificial intelligence and robotics lab, a five-kilometre security fence with smart surveillance, and additional residential facilities for staff.
Echono reaffirmed TETFund’s commitment, assuring that interventions for AFIT, including staff accommodation and infrastructure upgrades, are scheduled for the year.
“Our support ensures institutions produce disciplined, skilled graduates ready to serve national needs,” he said.
