Tinubu orders nationwide rice distribution for Ramadan, Lent

President Bola Tinubu has directed the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) to distribute rice to families across Nigeria, covering all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), in support of citizens observing the Ramadan and Lenten seasons.
The directive was disclosed over the weekend by the Director-General of RHA and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
In a statement, Uzodimma said the initiative is designed to foster national unity and demonstrate compassion during periods of profound spiritual significance for both Muslim and Christian communities.
“The programme reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to inclusivity, solidarity, and shared national values,” Uzodimma said.
“Ramadan and Lent are seasons that remind us of sacrifice, charity, and care for one another. Through this distribution, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors will ensure that families across Nigeria feel the spirit of togetherness during this sacred period.”
The rice would be distributed through the RHA’s nationwide grassroots network, coordinated via state, local government, and ward structures to ensure broad coverage and transparency.
This effort mirrors a similar intervention during the previous Christmas season, when rice was distributed to assist Nigerians celebrating the festive period.
Both Christian and Muslim communities are expected to benefit from the programme, which underscores the administration’s continued effort to support citizens during major religious and cultural observances.
