Shettima commends Soludo’s counsel, highlights national unity

Vice President Kashim Shettima has praised Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his contributions to national development, emphasising that the insights of the Anambra leader benefit the current administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Shettima made the remarks on Tuesday during the swearing-in ceremony of Soludo and his deputy, Onyeka Ibezim, marking the governor’s second term in office.
“The policies of His Excellency, President Tinubu, have gained from the candor, specialist insights, and patriotic counsel of this distinguished economist.
“This is what nation-building requires—placing the welfare of the Federation above partisan interests and recognising that Nigeria is too precious to be abandoned to division simply because leaders belong to different political parties, ” he said.
Shettima, a former governor of Borno State, encouraged Soludo, who belongs to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), to view his second term as a mandate to continue delivering results for the people of Anambra State.
He lauded the governor for the progress achieved during his first term and urged him to scale up developmental initiatives in the South-East state.
“That is why this ceremony matters. It is not only about continuity; it is about responsibility.
”The higher the trust, the heavier the burden,” Shettima said, reminding the governor that leadership comes with enduring obligations to protect the vulnerable, promote opportunities, safeguard peace, and leave a society stronger and more just than it was.
The vice president further noted that the Federal Government remains committed to working with states to improve the quality of life for Nigerians.
“This second coming is not a return to reputation but a return to consolidation—not a call to start over, but an invitation to build higher on tested foundations,” he added.
The inauguration attracted high-profile attendees, including former Nigerian Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo, reflecting the significance of the event and the broad support for governance continuity and national development in Anambra State.
Shettima’s remarks underline the importance of cross-party cooperation in advancing national interests, showing that constructive dialogue and expertise can transcend political divides for the common good.
