Vice President Kashim Shettima has expressed profound grief over the recent terror attacks in Maiduguri that claimed the lives of 25 people and injured many others.
Speaking during the closing of the Annual Ramadan Tafsir at the State House Mosque, on Tuesday Abuja, he offered prayers for the victims and their families, asking Almighty Allah to grant them eternal peace and fortitude.
VP Shettima emphasised that no religion sanctions the killing of innocent lives, noting that the sanctity of human life remains a fundamental tenet across major world faiths.
He prayed for the eradication of agents of terror and for divine guidance for those responsible, while urging Nigerians to continue praying for the nation and for wisdom and sincerity for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his team.
“The president and his team are working diligently to address insecurity,” the VP said, noting that the attacks underscore the importance of leadership grounded in conscience, accountability, and service to the people.
VP Shettima also reflected on the spiritual lessons of Ramadan, stressing that its teachings on mercy, restraint, and responsibility must extend beyond the holy month into daily life.
He called for believers to uphold good character and model exemplary behavior in homes, workplaces, and positions of authority, reinforcing the principle that influence is a trust, not a license.
The Vice President paid tribute to the Chief Imam of the State House Mosque, Sheikh Abdulwaheed Suleiman Abubakar, for guiding the Tafsir with wisdom and for his prayers for Nigeria’s peace, development, and the success of the Tinubu administration’s policies.
Shettima’s remarks come amid nationwide condemnation of the Maiduguri attacks and ongoing efforts by security agencies to prevent further terrorist incidents in Borno and other regions.
