NDC unveils Akwa Ibom State chapter

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) officially launched its Akwa Ibom State chapter on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, marking a strategic step to broaden the party’s presence in the South‑South region of Nigeria.

Speaking at the inauguration in Uyo, the state chairman, Dr Bassey Willie, declared that the party is poised to challenge and disrupt existing political structures in the state.

He emphasised the need for aggressive grassroots mobilisation, urging members to remain committed and passionate in recruiting new members to strengthen the party’s base.

“We are coming out strong to upset the current political order,” Willie said, adding that sustained momentum in membership drive would be key to the party’s success.

The unveiling event attended by party leaders, supporters and stakeholders, was held as part of the NDC’s efforts to deepen political engagement and mobilise grassroots support ahead of upcoming electoral cycles.

Party officials outlined plans to strengthen organisational structures, recruit members, and articulate policies that resonate with local communities across Akwa Ibom.

The unveiling marks a significant step in the NDC’s broader strategy to establish a formidable presence across Nigeria ahead of future electoral contests.

The official announcement and further details about the chapter’s leadership and agenda are available via the Watchman Post report.
