President Trump announces Israel will not strike Iran’s gas plant again

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Israel will not conduct further attacks on Iran’s South Pars gas field, following his earlier threats to “massively blow up” the facility if Iran continued strikes on Qatari energy sites.
The statement comes after Tehran attacked Gulf energy sites, including Qatar’s Ras Laffan LNG facility, in retaliation for an Israeli strike on the South Pars gas field, one of the world’s largest natural gas reservoirs.
Crude oil prices surged five per cent amid fears the Middle East conflict could disrupt global energy supplies.
Trump clarified that the U.S. had no prior knowledge of Israel’s attack, and he emphasised that Israel would refrain from further action unless Iran initiated aggression against Qatar.
If Iran disregards this, Trump warned that the U.S. would intervene directly, threatening a massive strike on the South Pars field.
The announcement marked a U-turn from his earlier comments, which had condemned Israel’s attack as a major escalation in the region.
