Akwa Ibom police bust burglary syndicate, arrest 4 suspects

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested four individuals in connection with burglary and the handling of stolen goods during operations carried out on March 17, 2026, in Uyo.
According to the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, two of the suspects—Idiongho Johnny (29) and Ofonime Jimmy (30), both residents of Uyo—were apprehended for allegedly committing shop burglaries along Aka Road.
Items recovered included a locally made pistol, a live cartridge, iron cutter, multiple suspected master keys, and a mobile phone.
A follow-up operation led to the arrest of two other suspects, Innocent Nnaukwu (39) and Ali Ibrahim (24), who were found in possession of two stolen generators, a welding coil, and a car battery.
The Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, commended the operatives for their professionalism and assured the public that efforts continue to apprehend additional syndicate members and recover more stolen property.
These arrests highlighted the command’s proactive approach in combating burglary and safeguarding residents in the state.
