APC fixes screening ahead of convention

The All Progressives Congress has announced plans to screen aspirants vying for national offices as part of preparations for its forthcoming national convention.

The screening forms part of a broader series of activities leading to the APC National Convention, which is scheduled to hold between March 25 and March 28, 2026.

According to a notice issued by the party, the screening exercise has been scheduled for Tuesday, March 24, and will take place at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.

The party stated that only aspirants who have completed the purchase and submission of their Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms would be eligible to participate in the screening process.

The Secretary of the Screening Committee, Isa Yuguda, explained that all aspirants are required to appear in person and present relevant documents for verification.

He also advised candidates to arrive early to ensure a smooth and timely exercise.

The party had earlier released a comprehensive timetable in December 2025, outlining the sequence of events for its internal electoral process.

The process began with a nationwide membership e-registration exercise, which ran from December 1, 2025, to January 30, 2026.

Since then, the party has conducted ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses, including the sale and submission of nomination forms and the screening of aspirants at various levels.

Appeals arising from the congresses have also been addressed, paving the way for the final phase of the process—the national convention, where key party officials are expected to emerge.

The convention is expected to bring together party leaders, delegates, and stakeholders from across the country as the APC consolidates its internal structures ahead of future political activities.
