Tinubu meets security chiefs over Plateau killings

President Bola Tinubu has held a high-level meeting with security chiefs to review the recent killings in Plateau State, as part of efforts to address the deteriorating security situation in the area.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this during a media briefing in Abuja, describing the attack as a criminal act that requires urgent and decisive response.

He further revealed that the President has summoned the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, to the nation’s capital for consultations aimed at assessing the situation and charting a path towards a lasting solution.

According to Idris, the meeting with security chiefs forms part of a broader strategy by the Federal Government to strengthen security operations and prevent further attacks in the troubled region.

He stressed that the government was committed to restoring peace and ensuring that those responsible for the violence are brought to justice.

The minister noted that the invitation extended to Governor Mutfwang underscores the importance of collaboration between federal and state authorities in tackling insecurity.

He added that the planned engagement would focus on identifying practical measures to curb the violence and stabilise affected communities.

Describing the killings as unacceptable, Idris reiterated the government’s resolve to deploy all necessary resources to protect lives and property while working towards sustainable peace in Plateau State.
